Global Warming: Since when does concensus mean only some people agree?

Filed under: Sick and Tired — Trever Bierschbach @ 8:35 am

Ahhhh, I am sitting here, first day of July in the Midwest,  61 degrees and cloudy, high of 71 today.  High yesterday was 74.  Been so nice this summer I did not start my air conditioner until the second week of June.  Actual temperatures this summer have been much lower than average, yet we are still hearing about how the world is going to be unlivable in a generation or so, rising waters, sweltering heat, no winter, blah blah blah.  I am no scientist, but I remember science classes in high school and college, and I don’t remember being able to prove a theory when your outcome was contradictory to your expectations.  It is starting to feel like those in power are just ignoring the world around them and following the misinformation presented in a documentary by a politician 3 years ago.  Then I saw something yesterday that convinced me that they aren’t just ignoring the world around them and the evidence that Mother Nature is presenting, they are flat out ignoring the evidence that scientists are presenting as well.

This video here will certainly cause you to question the motives of our own politicians when it comes to global warming.  The man in this video works for the EPA, and his report was suppressed by them.  I don’t know about you, but if the government is going to spend billions of dollars, and raise the cost of all my utilities I want them to have all the information out there to make an informed decision.

This is a short one today, there is a slew of information out there and posting links to other people’s information is just not what I want to do with my time.  Educate yourselves, sort through the mess, and please don’t buy into the hype.  Fact of the matter is climate change is historically a natural occurrence.  There is no definitive proof that this time around that it’s our fault.  There is NO consensus among scientists, problem is you aren’t being exposed to those learned men that don’t agree with the warming theory.  Ask yourself why the global warming front won’t show you temperature models going back hundreds of years.  You can find those reports out there, you will find that this is by far not the most extreme change in global temperatures the earth has seen.  You will find that ups and downs in temperatures happen, the last known extreme was the little ice age.  Check that out, it may be an indication of what will happen in a few years.  What will we see then?  Will there be a whole new movement that wants to fight global cooling?  Also take this knowledge with you.  The green movement has become a multi-billion dollar a year business, and we all know how hard people fight when money is involved.  If you think that the green movement isn’t willing to lie to protect profits then I have some beach front property in Arizona with a very reasonable price tag.

On the other extreme, don’t buy too much into the anti-warming rhetoric.  I looked and looked, and there are a lot of sites out there that refute global warming, but they don’t cite any science either.  There is science out there, but it is hard to find, and very conflicting.  What I have found in my search is the only people that are sure are the politicians and businessmen that have the most to lose.  Scientists’ views on the issue are varied, and far from a concensus.  What they do seem to agree on is we are seeing climate change (notice change, not warming), this has happened before in the history of our planet, and no one knows if we have any influence one way or the other with the change.

  1. I have worked in the software industry for a decade now. I’m amazed how people so calmly, and without any skepticism, accept computer models of our frigging ATMOSPHERE. It’s difficult enough to predict how water will behave in a milk jug, much less the atmosphere of the largest inhabitable planet known to man.
